AhlulBayt News Agency: Commander of the Iranian Army Naval Force, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, says the movements and operations of the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group are being continuously monitored, warning that it would be targeted if it comes within range of Iran’s missile systems.
According to a statement released by the Army on the Wednesday, coastal cruise missiles of the Iranian Navy targeted the USS Abraham Lincoln, forcing it to change position.
Rear Admiral Irani, who personally ordered the missile launch from the Navy’s tactical command headquarters, commemorated the martyrs of Dena Destroyer and said the Iranian Navy would persist until avenging their blood.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran Navy, with firm resolve and full maritime authority in the Persian Gulf, along with smart control of the Strait of Hormuz and vigilant monitoring of military and hostile fleets north of the 10-degree latitude, will not rest until we take revenge for the blood of our dear martyrs,” he said of 84 Iranian servicemen on board Dena Destroyer, who were killed in a US attack on the vessel in the early days of the war. 20 more servicemen went missing.
Irani added that the Navy remains steadfast in safeguarding Iran’s dignity and strength, aiming to be a source of hope for the oppressed and a deterrent to its enemies.
He reiterated that the USS Abraham Lincoln strike group remains under constant surveillance, stressing that it would face “crushing” strikes by Iranian naval forces if it enters the range of the country’s missile systems.
